last day of VBS

Most of Saturday has come and gone here in Japan. We had a "mini-session" before lunch, which included a review of the English expressions the kids learned through the teaching of "Dr. Chuck" and the acting of Kyle and Brennan. After lunch we had our end of camp bazaar.

This evening, we short term missionaries and Sharon McCormick (who was visiting today, to the delight of the veterans) attended dinner at Izawa-san's daycare center. After our meal, we participated in a Japanese party ritual that included a shinai (Kendo version of a sword), a blindfold, and a watermelon. It's similar to the pinata ritual. All of us had a turn taking a whack at the watermelon. After the watermelon smash, we lit Japanese sparklers and fireworks. It was illuminating (and smokey). We're spending the night there tonight.

Thanks to all who kept us in their prayers this week. Please continue to pray for us as we go to Honda Chapel.
